Many of you are eager to hear news of what’s next with Luminair. With the release of iOS 7 today, here’s just a little status update. First of all, the existing Luminair apps have been tested and will run on iOS 7, with some minor UI issues here and there. If you encounter any issues on iOS 7, please go ahead and report them to support.
Now for the status update on what’s next. Sometime in the next few weeks, Luminair v2.5 will be released simultaneously for iPad and iPhone as free updates to the existing apps. v2.5 has been under development for some time, and since this past June has been developed under the new iOS 7 SDK in preparation for this Fall release. This is an exciting update for reasons that are yet to be revealed (sorry!), and you’re really going to enjoy the new features. More info on v2.5 will be available before it’s release, so please continue to check our news page, as well as our Twitter and Facebook pages.
5 years ago today on July 24th, 2008, Luminair for iPhone was released on the App Store! The very first lighting control app for iOS, launching just a couple of weeks after the App store first opened!
It’s amazing to see the places Luminair has shown up around the world and the projects it’s being used on 5 years later. This is such a wide range of fields… From Oscar and Emmy winning movies and TV shows, to children’s theater, architecture, weddings and more… Bringing creative lighting control to the masses!
Thanks to everyone for coming along for the ride and making Luminair a success! You’ll be glad to know that there’s some great new things in development for future versions of Luminair. More on that soon, so stay tuned!
Apple recently updated the AirPort Express Wi-Fi router. The AirPort Express has always been really popular with Luminair users, due to it’s portability.
Older generations of the AE always required being put into a Bridge mode to properly communicate with an ethernet to DMX interface connected to it’s single ethernet port, so we always provided a nice little setup guide that walked users through this process. The new AE now includes dual-ethernet ports, and it’s easier then ever to setup for use with Luminair and Art-Net/sACN DMX interfaces.
We’ve created a revised PDF setup document for the new AirPort Express (3rd-gneration), available for direct download at the following link:
Luminair’s icon is part of the new iPad window display at Apple Retail Stores! So far we’ve heard from users who have seen it in San Francisco, Chicago, even Tokyo. Here’s a picture from the Kenwood Towne Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Let us know if you spot Luminair at your local store, or better yet, take a picture and send it!
